After thirteen months I've finally got all the secondhand books listed on website. Currently over 1400 of them. Hopefully will go down as people buy them

I’m delighted to announce the launch of Encore Books new website. It has lots of new features including a shopping cart. You will be able to see picture of the cover of a book as well as ‘the blurb’.

At the moment there are not many second hand books listed but more will be added most days.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Caroline

If you are still thinking about coming to the Gather please can you sign up by Sunday night (UK time). We currently only have 11 people who have signed up. If we do not have enough people signing up then we will either have to increase the cost or cancel. If we have to cancel we will not get all our money back.

Thank you Tesco :-))
Despite the snow and ice, they managed to get within 150 yards of our house. They then phoned us and asked us to help carry some of it - which we did willingly. Very impressed that they made it. I suspect the main reason they did is the driver was Polish so used to driving in weather like this!!

Knitting and Craft
One of the many things I have been doing for the last few months is knitting LOTS of hats and scarves. Our craft group had a stall at the parish church's autumn fair. To see a picture of me with Nicola and Helen go to:

Lots of new books arrived yesterday/today

The Guides of the Chalet School by Jane Berry (GGBP)
The Chalet Girls' Cook Book by EBD (GGBP)
Pirouette by Susan Scarlett (Noel Streatfeild) (Greyladies)

Two major decisions needed:-

1) What do I read first
2) How/where do I shelve the cook book seeing as it's landscape rather than portrait shaped.

Updating by Numbers again
1)  We've been home for over two weeks now (blushes).  Holiday was fantastic, amazing but it's lovely to be back home.  I will try to load up some photos if someone could give me idiot proof instructions.

2)  Have signed up for the Gather.  It seems to be coming round very quickly.

3)  I currently have no kitchen.  Builders gutted it this morning.  Plasterer is currently filling in gaps and doing the new ceiling.  Hopefully it should all be done by the middle of next week

4)  Am currently in the process of setting up a e-shop for website.  Idea is that buyers will be able to buy and pay at same time (via Paypal).  To start with will only be new books.  Am currently scanning in book covers.  Any suggestions most welcome.

I'm sure that there is a lot more I wanted to post but builders need to turn power off ...

Snow!!
Yes, you did read that correctly!  We rarely get snow here in Reading but we woke up this morning to find a light dusting of snow.  I don't ever remember having snow this early before

CBB??

Is it just me or is the CBB down?  This morning I keep getting error messages with 'forbidden' in big letters!  I've lost my bookmark to LJ page for this - please could someone remind me of it.

Many thanks.

Friday's List

Hurrah and Huzzah.  Have sorted out LJ cuts

At Nicola's reward assembly this morning, the Head announced who the new Deputy Head is (they've been interviewing for the last two days).  It's Mr M who is Helen's teacher.  Although I'm delighted for him I can see that the rest of the school year will be 'interesting'.  I'm not sure whether he will be able to keep them as his class as for the last 18 months the current DH has not had her own class.  As well as the DHing she does a lot of the PPA cover for the juniors.

Ouch!

I just managed to trip over the small step when going out of the 'office' just now.  I landed omy my right knee (which is the one I damaged in NZ almost three years ago) and caught my left hip on the stairs.  Ouch!  I sat with a bag of frozen peas on my knee for 15mins which has helped but ouch!  I've taken some ibufropen which will hopefully help.

Luckily I have got the car all week as I don't think I'd manage to walk to school and back this afternoon.
